For auction a vintage 4/4 violin ready to play. Body measures 14 1/8" X 6 5/8" X 8 1/4". Violin is solid with no splits or separations. There is one 1" crack in the upper right rib looks to have came from impact (see picture 4 ). A small chip off upper edge of right f-hole (see picture 3 ). Pegs , pegbox , and neck in excellent condition. Finish has the usual dings and scratches. Do not know the manufacture of the bridge or strings. Tailpiece has 4 fine tuners. Violin is very loud. Paper label inside reads "E. R. Pfretzchner Mittenwald obb 19__ handmade copy of Antonius Stradivarius West Germany serial 10653 model 995-14" ". There is also a NEMC label of approval on the treble side. I have been told the serial # is also the date code. I don't know it to be true for this instrument. It comes with a plain Glasser bow that appears to have been repaired on the tip or do they come this way? (see picture 11). Hair is good. I don't think the case is original but no way to find out. Case is peeling badly and has a crack in the lower front (see picture 9). Case is functional. This is a used item and sold AS-IS. Look at pictures, I am not an expert on violins but will answer questions the best of my ability. Will package well. Shipping costs are $18.00 with free insurance up to $100.00 , any coverage in excess of this amount will be the responsibility of the buyer.
