Savarez Corelli double bass string. Low B string - used. Medium tension; Savarez catalogue no. 376 TX.
Perhaps you're asking yourself "why should I be interested in buying used double bass strings?". If so, here are a few thoughts:
1. Double bass strings are expensive, sometimes very expensive. Especially low Bs and Cs.
2. You might want to try out a type of string you've not used before, without spending a huge amount of money.
3. You might be looking to replace the string on a school or student instrument, and don't have the budget for a new set.
4. You might just want a spare string just in case.
5. I change the strings on both my basses approximately every six months (I like the sound of new strings!), so have quite a supply of used strings - although 6 months or so is not much use considering the lifetime of a double bass string.
6. A string that's rested for a few weeks can give you all the tonal qualities of a new string, at least temporarily.
What else should I tell you? Well, although I change my strings fairly often (see above) on my 4-string instrument the D A strings tend to rub together in the pegbox. Sometimes the A on the 5-string opens a little at the bridge. Sometimes I use experimental extended techniques, which can mark the surface of the strings. So these strings, whilst still young and with lots of life left, are not pristine. This is why the starting price is so low - make a bid that you think is appropriate. If you're not happy with the string when you receive it, return it to me and I'll refund your money.
**n.b.**
Please consider making use of the insurance option, since without it I won't be able to offer you a refund should anything go missing in the post. The charge shown is a maximum amount, and may be less for lower-value items; if so I'll invoice/refund you appropriately.
